Provide technical service support to Power Systems customers in a shop environment. This support is in the form of maintaining and troubleshooting diesel engines. Assist in the shop with engine tear downs, cleaning parts, staging parts for bigger engines, installing and testing to ensure the concern is fixed. Perform service repairs to include components and other general repairs and maintenance; providing superior service and representing Altorfer’s professional image.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILIITIES (including, but not limited to):
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent, five years Heavy Equipment experience. Proficient with Excel and email.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Ability to perform high quality repairs, in an efficient fashion, and maintain a clean working environment while working in the field. Must be able to work independently. Ability to use resources for information (when written documentation is not available). Has good decision making practices and ability to follow directions . Demonstrates effective communication ability, representing Altorfer’s professional image to customers and office personnel. Must have good organizational skills and ability to write technical reports. Must have intermediate keyboarding skills with a basic knowledge of Office software, preferably MS Word
This position works in an office environment, there will be times when you are required to go out into the service and warehouse area and will be required to wear close-toed shoes and safety glasses in designated areas. May, on a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required and wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields) when needed. This position works the majority of time in the equipment shop. May on a continuous basis walk, bend and lift up to 75 lbs. At times you may be required to move/operate equipment to figure out what maintenance needs to be performed. The noise level in the shop environment is usually moderate to high. This position also spends a portion of time in an office environment. May, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Must be flexible to work Saturdays and overtime as needed.
