Quick Tip Video: In-Cab Display Basics

As someone using heavy equipment for your worksite requirements, the last thing you want to do is spend time fumbling with your machine’s display to find the settings you need when your eyes are supposed to be trained on the road. Unfortunately, this type of distracted driving is all too common. There’s a better way to navigate your equipment — by choosing new Cat® machines equipped with an Advanced Display Screen (ADS), which is an intuitive display designed to provide flexibility and efficiency at a glance.

Caterpillar® has designed its in-cab display to be as clear and straightforward as possible. Now, you can control features like engine speed and your backup camera with the push of a button, allowing you to keep your focus on your more pressing duties. Take a look at the video below to learn more about your Advanced Display Screen’s features.

Hey, I’m Dave with today’s quick tip and today I’m going to show you how to navigate your way through our advanced display screen.

This is your home screen.

The bottom left is your fuel gauge.

Top left is your engine coolant temperature

Top right is your hydraulic temperature.

And bottom right is your RPM.

In the middle, you will see your hours and voltage in the system.

Your creep control is the snail in the top left corner.

Your creep control can be changed here on your home screen.

Just click the buttons right below the arrows signaling up or down.

You can turn off the creep control by using the bottom left button on your left joystick.

Now it’s time for the backup camera located on the bottom left of the screen.

Clicking the button directly below the camera allows the backup camera to be visible at all times.

Otherwise, the backup camera becomes visible once the joystick is moved to the reverse direction.

Knowing how to navigate your in-cab display will help ensure that you get the most out of your machine.

That was today’s quick tip, thanks for watching.

Make the Most of Your Cat Equipment by Navigating Your Machine’s Display

The best equipment operators take the time to get to know their equipment before starting at each jobsite. The professionals at Caterpillar understand — which is why they’ve made it as easy as possible for you to familiarize yourself with your machines using the ADS system. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to take just a couple of minutes to learn about each feature on your in-cab display.

As the video shows, navigating your display screen is as easy as pressing a button. You can then perform tasks like:

  • Monitoring engine coolant and component temperatures
  • Adjusting the engine speed (RPMs)
  • Checking fuel levels
  • Employing the backup camera
  • Engaging creep control

Each screen is bold, colorful and easy to read, so you can view all the information you need at a glance and quickly regain focus on your task.

Want to change the display to reflect your work? Not a problem. You can customize your Cat machine’s screen to your specifications, such as removing the creep control button from the home screen if you never use it or setting up your backup camera to display permanently if you frequently need to see behind you at your jobsite.
