Altorfer Customer Purchases Anniversary Edition 938M

Although the number 13 is filled with superstitions, that was not the case for this wheel loader.

Only 25 special edition 938M wheel loaders were manufactured to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Small Wheel Loader production at Caterpillar’s Building Construction Products Division (BCP) facility in Clayton, North Carolina.

These wheel loaders were individually numbered, and featured a custom paint job, large 23.5R25 Michelin MX XHA2 LC tires, a deluxe cab, fusion quick coupler, rear camera, limited slip rear, and payload control. The loaders were shipped to different dealerships throughout the country and Altorfer received #13.

Altorfer Construction Sales Representative Darin Patrick recently sold this piece of Caterpillar history to Growmark in Casey, IL, making it one of the first anniversary editions to be sold. The new machine was delivered to the customer in December and will be put to work loading product for blended and straight loads of fertilizer.

This was also a special occasion for Darin because Growmark was his first sale as an Altorfer Inc. sales representative, and their relationship has grown ever since.

Growmark Terminal Manager Alex Evans says there were several reasons they decided to purchase the Caterpillar loader over competitive units.

“Price and capabilities were two major factors,” says Evans. “This new wheel loader is smaller, more versatile, and still able to tackle the same tasks as our previous wheel loader more efficiently.”

Evans goes on to explain that they can always count on Altorfer which was another purchasing factor for them.

“Our Altorfer salesman and mechanics are responsive and always eager to help,” says Evans. “Everything that we’ve ever needed our salesman for, he’s always taken care of it. He always gets things done right the first time, and we’ve never had to revisit an old problem which saves us a lot of time.”

About the Special Edition Caterpillar 938M Aggregate Handler

Although the standards are the same, this special edition machine comes with more. Aesthetically, several different features of the machine had color changes from yellow to black. This includes the; hood, rims, and the honeycomb. They received unique decals on the rear grill and have a special 25th anniversary decal and the production number to identify each machine in the group.

Functionally, this edition is placed on 23.5R25 tires which are slightly larger than standard. Finally, to promote the value of the Cat Production Measurement (CPM) system, it was included in the machine at no extra cost.
