Field Service Technician

Responsibilities: Perform service and repairs in the field on Caterpillar and other types of heavy equipment. Troubleshoot and repair engine, hydraulic, electrical, and other systems. Provide excellent customer service to all customers. Operate equipment in a safe manner to find diagnostic errors, technical problems, and determine proper solutions. Establish and maintain a service oriented relationship with customers and supervisors. Order parts in equipment parts books or online. Complete service reports and enter the proper data into the computer systems. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:  Successful completion of a formal technical training program with a minimum of four yearsí experience required. Must have engine, electrical, hydraulic, diagnostic troubleshooting and repair skills. Computer literacy required. Must be familiar with programs such as Microsoft, Excel and Outlook. Ability to follow all safety rules and wear proper safety equipment. Must be a self-starter with good time management. Excellent planning & organizational skills required. Must be team oriented and willing to adapt to change. Previous experience and knowledge of part books. Ability to work overtime and some weekends when needed. Excellent communication skills (written, e-mail, and verbal) are necessary. MSHA certification is preferred. Must be able to lift up to 75-100lbs and provide your own tools. High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Must have a valid driverís license (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on file candidate)

Springfield, IL- Power Systems Division
Field Service Technician

Responsibilities: Provides technical service support to Power Systems customers.  This support is in the form of maintaining and troubleshooting power generation equipment and accessories.  Ensures quality customer service activities designed to increase customer satisfaction. Prefer technician be a resident in the area that forms a triangle between Cass, Menard, and Morgan counties in Illinois. Performs troubleshooting and repair of engine-generators and associated accessory equipment. Performs routine maintenance on engine-generators and associated accessory equipment. Performs engine-generator overhauls and other major repairs, as needed. Assists with removal, transportation, and handling of large pieces of equipment, as needed. Drives service truck and works with dispatching office to maintain schedule of work assignments. Handle job planning, securing necessary equipment, and parts ordering for work orders. Reports work on time cards and service reports. Liaison between customer in the field and the service office to coordinate work and insure customer is satisfied with overall maintenance/repairs. Assists service office with repair quotes. May perform other related duties as requested and/or assigned.

Qualifications: Prior experience in mechanical/electrical service work. PC skills required and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred. Must have outstanding positive attitude at all times! Must be able to sit for long periods in a service truck to reach job destinations. Good communication skills (verbal and written) and excellent customer service skills necessary. Must be able to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions. Able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities needed, this includes close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to have manual dexterity to operate equipment and tools required on the job. Must be able to quickly respond (with the hand, finger or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears. High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Must have a valid driverís license (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on file candidate).
