*NEW MODEL ANNOUNCED*
Cat CT680 Vocational Truck

Caterpillar Inc. announces the second model in its new line of on-highway Cat® Vocational Trucks, the Cat CT680, will be available first quarter 2013. A Class 8 truck, the CT680 will be built in America and sold and serviced exclusively through the North American Cat Dealer network in the United States and Canada.

The development work for the CT680 is already well underway. The CT680 will feature a Set-Forward Axle (SFA), with both 116-inch and 122-inch Bumper to Back of Cab (BBC) lengths available. Cat CT Series Engine model options for the CT680 include the CT11 engine with ratings from 330 (space inserted here) bhp to 390 bhp, the CT13 with ratings from 410 bhp to 475 bhp and the CT15 with ratings from 435 bhp to 550 bhp.

A notable transmission option for the CT680 is the Cat CX31 Automatic Transmission. Proven for years in vocational applications all over the world, the CX31 has amassed a track record for quality and reliable performance that maximizes uptime. The CT680 can also be spec’ed with other transmission options, including the manual and UltraShift Plus Vocational transmissions built by Eaton.

“We just unveiled the Cat CT660, the first model in our new line of vocational trucks, at CONEXPO,” said George Taylor, Director and General Manager of the Caterpillar Global On-Highway Group. “So we’re really pleased to announce the 2013 launch date for our next model in the full line—the CT680.”

Taylor, who leads the design, development and launch of the truck line, said the CT680 is a key model in the company’s longer-term product development strategy. “The CT680, with a Set Forward Axle, will offer options and enhancements that many of our customers require for the work they do,” Taylor said. “It’s an outstanding truck that continues to deliver on the Caterpillar commitment to continually develop and introduce new products that accelerate the business success of our customers.”
