Make a Career out of Doing What You Love
If you’re a student looking for a career as a heavy equipment technician but not sure where to start, Altorfer can help! We offer facility tours and job shadowing opportunities for students who are interested in a career as a technician but not 100% sure.
We partner with Illinois Central College (ICC) in East Peoria, IL. ICC is home to the first Caterpillar Dealer Service Technology Program and through this program students will earn an Associates in Applied Science Degree. With the help of ICC, Altorfer selects a handful of students to sponsor through their two-year program offering four paid eight-week internships at our shops and long-term employment. We also offer sponsored students paid uniforms, a safety account and financing through payroll deductible with no interest on their basic tools.
ICC Caterpillar Technician Program Overview
What’s the program?
The Caterpillar Dealer Service Technology Program prepares you to become an entry-level service technician at a Caterpillar dealership. You’ll earn an Associate Degree in Applied Science, which is transferable to a four-year college/university. At the same time, you’ll learn the hands-on skills you’ll need to be successful as soon as you graduate. Because a Caterpillar dealership sponsors you in our program, as a direct result you’ll already be linked to a potential employer.
How do you get in?
